what is virtue?

A politician does not have to actually be right or do the right thing but must simply maintain an aura of infallibility and be perceived as the embodiment of virtue.

As Leo Strauss wrote: “Moral virtue only exists in popular opinion, where it serves the purpose of controlling the unintelligent majority.”
